No other economic sector has such a bright future ahead and roots firmly planted in ancient times as wood and its supply chains. At the same time, no other economic sector is so congenial to sustainability as a strategic foundation of competitiveness. Considered as a non-primary activity in the archipelago of Made in Italy districts, in the transition it is emerging that wood and its uses are at the centre of a new bio-economic paradigm. A recyclable raw material, the decarbonisation of energy sources and the integral reuse of waste and refuse perfectly intersect both the technological turn-over of emission-free thermal plants and the National Forestry Strategy, aimed at recomposing environmental needs with a balanced productive use of forest resources. Forestation and the use of wood for furniture, green building, energy, hydro-geological planning, water purification and urban cooling are crucial to counter climate change and to ‘reconnect the world we live in with the world we live in’ (Bruno Latour). The book was created with the support of the Credit Agricole Italia North-East Territorial Committee and is produced with the involvement of privileged witnesses.
